Chef Jeff Smedstad, owner of Elote Cafe located in Sedona Arizona, focuses his style on the cuisine of Mexico. He spent over 15 years traveling Mexico to learn more about the food by going to markets, eating in restaurants across the country and sharing time with families in Mexico to help broaden his knowledge and gain inspiration and insight. He also incorporates sustainable, local, healthy and organic products into his restaurant to showcase his passion for food as well as responsible cooking. Jeff’s highly successful Elote Cafe Cookbook, released in 2009, has sold over 8000 copies………and counting. His award winning cuisine has been featured in many media outlets including the Arizona Republic, Phoenix Magazine, The New York Times, The Boston Globe, the Toronto Star and Sunset Magazine among others.

Where outstanding “High Desert Cuisine” is combined with more than fifty years of “Old West Tradition and Hospitality”. The Cowboy Club Grille was the first of our dining rooms. Formerly the Oak Creek Tavern, it was the gathering place for Sedona’s early settlers including the founding members of the Cowboy Artists of America who organized the prestigious CAA in front of the fireplace on June 23rd, 1965. The Cowboy Club is a casual, family-oriented, dining area with full bar. The décor is Country and Western, showcasing the second largest set of Longhorn horns in the United States as well as original wood walls and a number of prominent Cowboy Artists’ works. The kitchen produces the finest in Angus and Buffalo Steaks, Game, Fresh Seafood as well as signature dishes such as Cactus Fries and Rattlesnake.
The Barking Frog Grill offers 3 dining rooms, a full “eat in” bar, and 2 outdoor patios so you can have the casual fine dining experience you want. And then there is the formal and elegant “Reserve Room” with it’s private wine cellar and special menu that is perfect for your next very special occasion.
